The Center for Inquiry Science at the Institute for Systems Biology is now accepting applications for
Cohort 3 of the Science Educators’ Network for Professional Growth
Who: Puget Sound region classroom teachers with experience in teaching standards-based science instructional materials To-date, 40 science educators representing grades K-12 and school districts from across the Puget Sound region have joined the Science Educators’ Network!
What: A unique professional growth opportunity to enhance educators’ skills and knowledge towards becoming consumers, advocates and facilitators of high quality professional development.
Science Educators’ Network participants:
- Develop personalized professional growth plans aligned to both content and confidence related to science teaching;
- Increase knowledge of standards-based (inquiry-centered) instructional materials based on educational research and best practices;
- Enhance knowledge and skills of classroom practice based on educational research and best practices;
- Develop knowledge and strategies towards become an advocate, consumer, and/or facilitator of high quality professional development; and,
- Contribute to and receive support from the Science Educators’ Network
When: Spring Orientation: June 12, 2010 Summer Sessions: August 17-20 & 23-24, 2010 (Applications due April 24, 2010)
Compensation:
- All workshop costs;
- Complementary copies of all books and reference materials;
- Modest travel stipend ($75/day); and,
- Clock hours and graduate credits available for a fee
